Skin is the outermost covering of our body composed of epithelial tissues and protects the underlying muscles, bones and internal organs. Skin performs various roles as in protection, sensation, heat regulation, etc. By now we can very well understand how vulnerable this waterproof covering is to us. It is many a times plagued with different kinds of SKIN DISORDERS, here we’ll talk about the most common amongst them. Acne is a very common skin disorder which begins in many people with the onset of puberty. It is a disorder of the sebaceous gland. When the gland becomes blocked pimples and cysts emerge. During teenage years the sebaceous gland becomes livelier resulting in augmented oil production in both the genders (boys and girls) .This happens because of the increase in the androgen level at the time of puberty. The oil or sebum travels from the hair follicles to the skin surface, then the skin bacteria begins to grow inside the follicles and result in inflammation. Acne progresses from black heads or white heads to a juncture when the follicle bursts, spilling oil, skin cells and bacteria on the surface and pimples begin to develop.

Pollution and humid conditions can also irritate the skin and result in acne.
Acne generally occurs in the region where sebaceous glands are present in advanced concentration like face, upper back, chest, shoulders and neck.
